The film Bahay Bata (Baby Factory) by Eduardo Roy Jr. wins an award in Lotus du Jury (jury prize) at the 14th Deauville Asian Film Festival, held in France from March 7 to 11.

This honor is the second citation received by the said movie after winning a Special Mention at the Vancouver feast last year in Canada.

After Deauville, “Bahay Bata” will compete at the Las Palmas Gran Canaria fest in Spain (March 16 to 24).

The film mirrors social situation of the Philippines about giving birth and on how mothers get into the hospital to give birth including on how the doctors and nurses of the Philippines do their job in a rush due to the plenty number of Filipino women giving birth daily.

Congratulations to Filipino movies for performing well in the international scene. It only shows how talented the Filipinos are in making quality movies.

I think this is already a right signal for Pinoy indie films to be supported by the government as commercial films are already handled by famous film firms with the marketing strategy and financial capabilties.
