The Philippines' bet for the London Olympics 2012 lost a fight from Birzhan Zhakypov of Kazakhstan. "Sorry daw sabi ni Barriga sa post-match interview. Kung hindi daw sa deduction nung round 3, baka nanalo. - Report from Lia live in London".

But the hope for the Philippines to win an Olympic medal is still there. Barriga wasn't able to do it but we still commend his courage and determination in representing our country.

On the other side of the story, our government should now start allocating funds for sports development and train our athletes not just to be stellar fighters but to grab the gold for the Olympics.

As of now, the Philippines hasn't tried grabbing a gold medal yet. The all-time high medal received by a Filipino Olympian is silver which was won by Onyok Velasco in boxing event.
